Sound Off for September 21st: Do you trust the media?
A new Gallup poll shows more Americans than ever don't trust the media. And the numbers are at record highs since Gallup started collecting data in the 1990s.
Based on a survey conducted September 6th through the 9th, 60 percent of Americans polled have little or no trust in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately and fairly.
That leaves 40 percent of Americans who have a great deal or some faith in the media to fairly report the news.
Gallup says, this year's decline in media trust is driven by Independents and Republicans. Pollsters say Republicans continue to express the least trust in the media, while Democrats express the most. Independents' trust fell below the majority level in 2004 and has continued to steadily decline since 2008.
While you may not trust these numbers we just gave you, we couldn't help but ask, do you trust the media? What has caused the circle of trust to be broken for you?
