Sound Off for February 13th: Should it be illegal to smoke in a car with children?
A new bill is making its way through Washington's legislature.
Senate Bill 5230 would make it illegal to smoke in your vehicle if anyone under 18 is inside.
And that means pipes, cigars and cigarettes.
It was introduced by Democrat Senator Paull Shin of Edmonds and would be considered a secondary offense.
That means a police officer couldn't pull you over for smoking, but if you were pulled over for speeding and the officer noticed you smoking, you could receive a ticket.
Five other states have already passed a similar ban, including Oregon and California.
Do you hope this bill passes? Or should people be able to do whatever they want in their own vehicles?
