A St. Louis circuit judge ruled on Wednesday that Missouri's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. The decision comes a day after a federal judge ruled that neighboring Kansas also was violating the U.S. Constitution by refusing to allow same-sex marriages. Rhode Island became the 10th state to allow gay marriage on May 2, 2013, when Gov. Lincoln Chafee signed into law a bill recognizing such unions. Weddings started when the law took effect Aug. 1.
