Supreme Court to take up same-sex marriage cases

The Supreme Court will hear two challenges to laws limiting the rights of same-sex couples to marry this spring: a case to the Defense of Marriage Act brought by a woman who was taxed on her inheritance when her partner died and a challenge to a California proposition that overturned a law allowing gay couples to marry.
