One dead in crash in east Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. - One man was killed in a crash in east Spokane Wednesday morning, after he crossed over a lane and drove into a ditch.

At around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, reports of a one vehicle injury crash near 8th and Havana were received by 911.

Callers stated the vehicle appeared to be speeding as it traveled west on 8th Avenue.

It crossed over the eastbound lane and into a deep ditch on the south side of 8th near Havana.

Spokane Police Officers, Spokane Valley Deputies and Spokane Valley Fire responded to the scene.

The adult male driver of the car sustained injuries and pronounced deceased at the scene.

8th Avenue between Havana and Custer will be closed for several hours as this deadly incident is investigated by Spokane Valley Traffic Collision Unit Investigators.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the deceased driver along with the cause and manner of death when appropriate.

At this time, investigators do not know what occurred prior to this crash or what caused the driver to leave the roadway.
