One dead due to injuries sustained in crash near Kettle Falls

KETTLE FALLS, Wash. - Just before 9 a.m. on November 1, a traffic collision was reported just west of Kettle Falls.

84-year-old Stanley Jones was traveling southbound on SR395 while 61-year-old Nels Larson was traveling southbound on SR 25.

Jones failed to slow down at the intersection and struck the trailer behind Larson's vehicle.

Jones was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center, but unfortunately passed away the following Tuesday afternoon.

Larson was not injured in the collision. 

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.

Inattention to the speed limit was the direct cause of this incident according to the official police report.
