Prosecutors in Yellowstone County say a 41-year-old woman charged with trying to rob five casinos was apparently trying to raise $75,000 in bail money for a man who was jailed on numerous charges.
Karen Kay Damron is charged with three counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery for a string of casino robberies in the Billings area Oct. 18 and 19. She was arrested on Oct. 19.
A prosecutor said Tuesday that Damron was trying to raise bail money for 22-year-old James Vincent Cracraft. He was arrested on Oct. 18 after the owner of a stolen vehicle spotted the vehicle in a store parking lot and confronted Cracraft. Cracraft fired a shot and ran away.
Prosecutors say Cracraft has acknowledged leading officers on high-speed chases in another stolen vehicle.
