A former Helena employee of CTA Architects is suing the company, saying her hours were cut and her benefits eliminated after she informed the company that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and was pregnant.
The Billings Gazette reports Michelle Campbell filed her lawsuit on March 26 in federal court in Helena. It alleges that in March 2013, CTA cut her weekly work hours from 40 to 16, eliminating all of her job benefits. The lawsuit says she has more than $25,000 in outstanding medical bills and the lack of medical treatment and medication for her MS has exacerbated her symptoms.
A Montana Human Rights Bureau investigation found Campbell had "reasonable cause" to believe the company discriminated against her because of her health conditions.
CTA President Scott Wilson says the company denies any allegations of wrongdoing.
