A 28-year-old Butte woman who admitted to stabbing her ex-boyfriend in the back as he moved out of her residence has been sentenced to seven years with the Department of Corrections with four suspended.
The Montana Standard reports District Judge Kurt Krueger sentenced Tara O'Donnell on Thursday, recommending that she be placed at a treatment center in Billings. She was given credit for the year she has spent in jail since her arrest for the Oct. 25, 2012 stabbing. She is also required to register as a violent offender.
O'Donnell pleaded guilty in June to felony assault with a weapon for stabbing her ex-boyfriend with a large butcher knife. Court records say he had to have his spleen removed as a result of the stabbing.
