Missoula County authorities are investigating after a woman said both she and her dog were hit with pepper spray while hiking southeast of Missoula.
The woman said she was walking her golden retriever Saturday afternoon when a man became upset because the dog wasn't on a leash. The woman said the man pepper-sprayed the dog and when she confronted him and threatened to call 911 he sprayed her.
Both the woman and the dog are OK. Authorities are looking for the suspect, who is described as being in his 50s, about 6 feet tall, heavyset with gray hair. He was wearing jeans and a green parka-style coat.
