Stevensville police are investigating ongoing vandalism at a local cemetery and are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for tipping over 35 headstones, damaging some of them.
Stevensville Mayor Gene Mim Mack tells KECI-TV it will cost the city thousands of dollars to re-set the headstones and repair the damage at the Maple Wood Cemetery. He expects the work will get done next week.
Mim Mack says someone tipped over 15 headstones in September at the cemetery, which has graves dating back to the mid-1800s. Another resident says another headstone was tipped over in November.
