The Washington State Patrol says the initial investigation indicates a trooper was responsible for a crash Friday on Highway 101 about two miles east of Port Angeles.

Sgt. Jason Hicks told the Peninsula Daily News Trooper Travis Beebe lost control while trying to overtake a speeder. He made a U-turn and struck two vehicles. One driver was treated at the scene by medics. Beebe was treat at a hospital for back and neck pain. The patrol car was destroyed.

The Peninsula Daily News reports Beebe also was involved in a May 2012 chase east of Port Angeles that ended in the death of a motorcycle rider and the destruction of his patrol car.
