Salem, OR -

The driver blamed for a rear-end collision that damaged two Salem police cars told officers she was the designated driver for two passengers who had been drinking. But she had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit.

The Marion County sheriff's office says the Salem officers had stopped with lights flashing by the side of a road for another matter early Sunday when they saw a car coming straight for them. The officers were standing behind one car and got out of the way just in time.

The oncoming car hit one patrol car and forced it into the other.

Police arrested the 26-year-old Salem woman for driving under the influence and reckless driving. Two other people in her car appeared to be highly intoxicated. No one was injured.
