YAKIMA, Wash. -

A man accused of setting a house fire in Selah last summer pleaded guilty to arson Monday in Yakima.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports 18-year-old Sammy Edward Hale of Selah also pleaded guilty to a rash of break-ins and car prowls and was sentenced to nearly three years in prison.

The fire on July 11 caused $270,000 damage to a home. A man who was sleeping inside at the time escaped after he was awakened by people who were driving by and noticed the fire.
