The state Attorney General's office is asking that charges be dismissed against a Toole County man for a collision that killed one pedestrian and injured another, to give the state more time to investigate.
The Great Falls Tribune reports 25-year-old Charles Geoffrey Santoro was arrested early on Aug. 19 after the car he was driving crashed into three people outside a Sunburst bar. Jerimiah Levi Rowell of Kevin (KEE'-vin) died at the scene. Two others were hospitalized.
The motion to dismiss the negligent homicide and negligent vehicular assault charges says the state needs more time to evaluate investigative reports and further investigate. The motion would allow the state to re-file the charges.
County Attorney Merle Raph said his office asked that the state take over prosecution of the case.
