A Republican state lawmaker is starting to raise money for either a U.S. House or Senate run in 2014.
State Sen. Matt Rosendale filed paperwork last week with the Federal Election Commission.
He told the FEC he won't specify which office he is seeking until current Republican U.S. Rep. Steve Daines decides if he is going to run for the Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Max Baucus.
Rosendale allied himself last legislative session with GOP Senate leaders who fought with dissidents over several issues.
He largely opposed many of the larger budget and policy initiatives sought by Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock.
The Maryland native moved to Montana about a decade ago.
He is among a long list of Republicans eyeing the House seat if Daines vacates it, as most expect.
