TACOMA, Wash. -

A man authorities have described as a serial robber who was shot in the head by a Puyallup police officer has been ordered jailed on $1 million bail.
The News Tribune reports that Jay Maria Christensen pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Tuesday on charges of unlawful gun possession, obstructing police and robbery.
Prosecutors say Christensen robbed a Denny's restaurant at gunpoint on Oct. 19 before fleeing in a truck driven by 49-year-old Steven Mikeal Sommer.
Court documents say police pursued the suspects along State Route 512 until the getaway car crashed into a concrete overpass support pillar.
When officers approached the truck, police say Christensen pointed a gun at Sommer and was shot by an officer.
Sommer says Christensen threatened him to run from the police.
