The East Fork of the Quinault River is moving faster than plans to save the historic Enchanted Valley Chalet in Olympic National Park.
The meandering river has eroded the bank, and the structure is in danger of falling into the water.
The Peninsula Daily News reports a house mover and others want to save the wooden structure, but it would require an expensive helicopter and working in a wilderness area.
Park spokeswoman Barb Maynes says the park is looking for a way to save the chalet that is technically and economically feasible.
Built in 1930, the chalet has been used as a lodge, summer ranger station and emergency shelter. It's located in the southwest corner of the park, 13 miles up the Graves Creek trail in the Enchanted Valley.
