SEATTLE -

Public health officials have launched an investigation into a water park in Washington state after a man drowned there over the weekend.

The Seattle Times reports  that Wild Waves Theme Park lifeguards pulled 32-year-old Vijayarengan Srinivasan out of one of the activity pools Saturday, but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

Seattle and King County officials say they are investigating the park "as per standard protocol" to determine whether everything is properly functioning and well-maintained. Two inspectors were at the park Tuesday.

Park officials said in an email Monday that they are cooperating with investigations into the man's death.

Police say Srinivasan was originally from India and had moved to Washington about two weeks ago. He had a wife and 3-year-old child.
