A $450,000 public-art project in Yakima will not be lighting up the city until the spring.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports that according to city spokesman Randy Beehler there have been some challenges fabricating the project, called "Bins of Light." The delays should not incur any additional costs.

"Bins of Light" was announced in 2008 as part of the $42 million construction budget for a pair of underpasses in the city. Delays and budget problems delayed the project was it was formerly approved for one underpass in 2014.

The work will be 17 feet high at its tallest point. It is a kinetic work, designed to look like 56 colorful, flashing fruit boxes, illuminated at night by red and yellow LED lights and lit in the daytime by natural light.
