PORTLAND, Ore. -

Portland police say they found a body in a house where they'd gone to investigate a stabbing report, and they've booked a man on murder and assault charges.

The stabbing victim was a 65-year-old man reported Friday in critical condition.

Wounded, he fled a northeast Portland house on Thursday afternoon to a motel across the street. Police were called.

Officers spent two hours trying to coax the 47-year-old suspect out of the house. They said Wayne Dinayog Nabehet eventually surrendered when he was assured a police dog wouldn't be sent in for him.

When police got inside, they found the body of a 55-year-old man.

Police didn't describe the circumstances of the violence. Spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson said it appeared all three persons knew each other in some way.
