The Hood River County sheriff's office says a member of the Polish military who set out to climb Oregon's Mount Hood is missing on the mountain.
KATU-TV reports that deputies say the 32-year-old told his roommate about his plan and set out Sunday morning.
The sheriff's office was called Monday morning after the man failed to return. A daylong search by air and ground failed to find him. Searchers plan to resume their efforts Tuesday.
Deputies have found his vehicle but don't know the route he took up the 11,239-foot mountain.
Officials say he carried warm clothing and water but he's described as a novice climber.
The sheriff's office says Sebastian Kinasiewicz was in Oregon for training.
