OREGON CITY, Ore. -

An Oregon City company says it has developed technology to detect drones and alert people when one is hovering nearby.

Tim Faucett of Domestic Drone Countermeasures told KGW antennas detect a transmitter and software determines if it fits the profile of a drone. Then the user is notified by text or email.

The company is raising money through Kickstarter and expects a drone detector unit will sell for about $500.
