Charges have been dismissed against a Sunnyside man who was arrested after he filmed a police raid.
Sunnyside Municipal Court Judge Steven Michels dismissed an obstruction charge against Thomas Warren at the request of both police and prosecutors Tuesday.
Warren videotaped a police raid Aug. 10, and his videotape showed Sunnyside Sgt. Oli Hernandez threatening to arrest him if he didn't stop filming. Hernandez later issued him a citation for obstruction, saying he crossed a secured perimeter.
Sunnyside Deputy Police Chief Phil Schenck tells the Yakima Herald-Republic that he has scheduled refresher training on constitutional law and search and seizure for his whole department with a Yakima County prosecutor.
Warren says he expected the charge to be dismissed, but he says he may still sue the department.
