The arraignment for the man accused of shooting a Vancouver police officer was postponed Tuesday after new charges were filed.
The defense lawyer for James Todd Sapp asked for the Clark County Superior Court hearing to be rescheduled for July 15 to give him more time.
The Columbian reports Prosecutor Tony Golik said new information from investigators led to the charges of attempted robbery, assault, and possession of methamphetamine and heroin.
The 48-year-old Vancouver man was already charged with attempted murder, robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm in the June 30 shooting of Officer Dustin Goudschall after he pulled over a pickup truck with stolen license plates.
The 32-year-old officer was protected by a ballistic vest. After a few days in the hospital, he's recovering at home.
