Police in Nampa have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of counterfeiting.
Officers say Jason Janes was trying to exchange a printer at a store on Saturday when he also tried to pass a counterfeit $5 bill. A cashier called police and was able to keep him there.
Officers found fake $5 bills in Janes' possession and more in a search of his residence.
Police say Janes passed fake bills at about a half dozen stores in the Nampa area, targeting gas stations.
One clerk, Jennifer Messner, tells KBOI-TV that the bills were "terrible." She tested them with a counterfeit money detecting pen and didn't accept them.
Janes was arrested on suspicion of possession of fictitious bills, possession of counterfeiting apparatus and burglary.
Nampa police believe more counterfeit bills remain in circulation.
