Man sentenced after carrying marijuana into Idaho
An Alabama man convicted of trafficking marijuana after a traffic stop in Idaho has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
The Idaho Press-Tribune in a story on Saturday reports that Cornelius Petty must also pay a $5,000 fine and court costs. Petty will be eligible for parole after one year.
Idaho State Police pulled over Cornelius and two other men in December for a traffic violation and found 64 pounds of marijuana. Petty pleaded guilty in July to a reduced charge of trafficking one to five pounds of marijuana.
An Indiana man pleaded guilty to a similar charge and is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 30.
A third man failed to appear in court in June and is wanted on an outstanding warrant.
