NAMPA, Idaho -

A southwest Idaho man who authorities say shot two Canyon County sheriff's deputies has pleaded not guilty to a variety of charges.

The Idaho Press Tribune reports that 28-year-old Kyle Alan Batt made the plea on Friday in 3rd District Court.

He's charged with two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of inflicting great bodily injury, and resisting or obstructing police.

Batt has already been sentenced to 15 years in prison on federal gun charges in connection with the case.

Prosecutors say Batt fled when deputies tried to arrest him last October and that he then led them into an ambush, shooting both multiple times.

Both deputies survived. Brad Childers has returned to work. Mike Roth is waiting for his arm to heal.
