A Tacoma man accused of tossing his neighbor's Chihuahua puppy out of a second-story window last month has pleaded guilty to a single felony count of first-degree animal cruelty.
The News Tribune reports that George Harris was sentenced Thursday to 30 days in jail, essentially equal to his time served and good behavior credits.
Pierce County Superior Court Judge John McCarthy also ordered Harris to reimburse the dog's owners for vet bills and ordered him never to own animals.
Harris was arrested Aug. 27 after his neighbor, Martha Tigner, called 911 to say she saw the man grab the 9-month-old pup and toss it out a window of their apartment building.
Court records show the dog suffered what might have been a hairline fracture in a hind leg. A deputy prosecutor says the dog is recovering well.
