A car traveling the wrong way on Interstate 15 near Butte crashed, killing the 20-year-old driver and injuring his passenger.
The Montana Highway Patrol says the driver, from Alberta, Canada, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes between Boulder and Butte at 2:50 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of his car. It struck the concrete median barrier and overturned. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected and suffered fatal injuries.
His passenger, a 15-year-old boy from Arizona, was taken to the hospital in Butte.
The names of those involved haven't been released.
The patrol says alcohol and speed were both factors in the crash.
