A Lame Deer man has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for a drunken driving crash that killed one passenger and severely injured another.
The Billings Gazette reports U.S. District Judge Sam Haddon sentenced 23-year-old Jerard David Jo Threefingers to 37 months in prison and ordered him to pay $1,300 in restitution. The sentencing was held in Wednesday in Helena.
Threefingers pleaded guilty in May to involuntary manslaughter for causing the death of a female passenger in an Oct. 2 crash near Lame Deer. Threefingers was arrested about two hours after the crash. Charging documents said Threefingers initially said the victim was driving, but later admitted he had been driving.
Prosecutors said Threefingers had a prior DUI conviction and numerous alcohol-related offenses.
