King County is considering creating a program that would test marijuana for prohibited pesticides.

KIRO-TV reports that the County Council on Wednesday will hear the ordinance that could impact marijuana retailers and consumers.

The move comes after recent testing showed some licensed pot producers in the area were using pesticides in their products.

Under the proposed ordinance, any business found to be selling contaminated pot could be fined $125 for a first offense and $250 for a second offense.
