KALISPELL, Mont. -

A Kalispell man who police say shot his wife several times has pleaded not guilty to attempted deliberate homicide.

The Daily Inter Lake reports that 39-year-old Steven Michael Foley made the plea Friday in district court.

Police say that Foley on Aug. 19 walked into the living room and shot his wife with a .22-caliber firearm.

Police say Foley then called a former wife to tell her about the shooting. The ex-wife called police who responded to find Foley's wife wounded on the front porch.

She survived after undergoing emergency surgery.

Foley remains jailed at the Flathead County Detention Center on $150,000 bail.
