The Senate Judiciary Committee has approved two nominees for federal judgeships in Montana.
The nominations of Yellowstone County District Judge Susan Watters and Montana Supreme Court Justice Brian Morris now move to the full U.S. Senate for confirmation.
Sen. Max Baucus recommended Watters to replace former U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull in Billings and Morris to replace Senior U.S. District Judge Sam Haddon in Great Falls.
The committee interviewed Watters and Morris in July. The Billings Gazette reports their nominations were approved Thursday.
Watters has been a judge in Montana's 13th Judicial District since 1998 when she was appointed by former Gov. Marc Racicot. Morris has been a Supreme Court Justice since 2005.
