A member of Gov. Jay Inslee's inner circle has announced he's stepping down.
Ted Sturdevant sent an email to his colleagues on Thursday saying that he would be leaving his position as executive director of the governor's legislative and policy office effective June 30. He wrote that it was time "for a different pace and work-life balance" and that he would spend the summer with family and friends before deciding what was next.
A spokeswoman for Inslee says there is no news yet on who will replace him. Inslee recently hired Matt Steuerwalt, a former Gregoire adviser and lobbyist for coal-fired power plant operator TransAlta, as his policy director and will be seeking someone to take over Sturdevant's legislative liaison duties.
Sturdevant had previously been director of Washington's Department of Ecology and also led former Gov. Gary Locke's external affairs team.
