Huge drug bust in Wenatchee
Authorities made a major drug seizure at a Wenatchee home on Friday.
Officers from the Department of Homeland Security, Wenatchee Police, Washington State Patrol, and Columbia River Drug Task Force served a search warrant on a home in the 600 block of Orondo Street. They were following up on a tip of significant amounts of narcotics in the home as well as firearms.
Inside, officers found a shotgun and two semi-automatic pistols. They also found some 25 lbs. of methamphetamine, 5 lbs. of cocaine, almost 9 lbs. of heroin, and chemicals that indicated the methamphetamine was being processed in the home.
The total street value of the drugs is estimated at $1.5 million.
This seizure represents the largest amount of hard drugs ever found by law enforcement officials in Wenatchee and it could be tied to trafficking operations from a Mexican drug cartel.
A suspect was arrested for several felony charges related to unlawful possession of the firearms as well as possession of narcotics with intent to deliver. He is being held on an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement hold since he is a suspected illegal alien.
An investigation to determine who else is involved with the drug trafficking operation is ongoing.
