Hikers rescued near Snoqualmie Pass tired, hungry
Two hikers who were rescued Tuesday morning in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Snoqualmie Pass were tired, hungry and scratched but otherwise OK.
KIRO reports they were found by a Snohomish County sheriff's helicopter after cell phone pings gave their general location. They were picked up by a King County sheriff's copter and flown to North Bend.
The two, 18-year-old Ricardo Perez of Edmonds and 19-year-old Brian Chim of Mukilteo, were reported missing by their parents Sunday after they failed to return from a day hike in the Mason Lake area.
Perez says they lost the trail in the snow. They hiked 17 miles the wrong direction.
Both were wearing shorts and only had a chocolate bar, some beef jerky and dried mango slices to eat.
