EVERETT, Wash. -

The Snohomish County medical examiner's office says the human remains found last weekend near a trail are those of a Seattle man reported missing in 2009.

County sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton said Thursday in a statement that Greg Keller was 58 when he disappeared. She says Keller told friends he planned to go camping between Darrington and Granite Falls off the Mountain Loop Highway on Oct. 27, 2009, and return home a week later.

An extensive two-day search of the area by the Snohomish County Search and Rescue Unit failed to find him.

The remains were found Saturday off the Boulder Creek Trail.

The medical examiner has not yet determined the cause and manner of Keller's death.
