A hiker near Sun Valley has walked away with only broken bones after falling 60 feet.

KTVB-TV reports that Avery Shawler was hiking Devil's Bedstead East on Labor Day when she became trapped due to the shifting sun and icy conditions. Shawler's satellite communicator was not working and she did not have cellphone service so she attempted to descend the mountain.

While walking across a slippery part of the trail Shawler slipped and fell. She suffered a fractured radius, three broken ribs, a broken eye socket, a serious head injury and had to get several stitches but says she is thankful to be alive.

When she landed her cellphone returned to service and she was able to call emergency responders. She was treated at Saint Alphonsus in Boise.
