Two Montana college football teams are still in action this weekend, with Montana hosting Coastal Carolina in the second round of the FCS playoffs while Carroll College travels to Kentucky for an NAIA semifinal game on Saturday.
Eighth-seeded and fourth-ranked Montana (10-2) takes on the 11th-ranked Chanticleers (11-2), which beat No. 12 Bethune Cookman 48-24 in a first-round game. The Grizzlies had a bye week going into the playoffs.
The two other Big Sky Conference teams in the 24-team playoff lost over the weekend. Sam Houston State beat Southern Utah 51-20 and South Dakota State beat Northern Arizona 26-7.
In the NAIA, third-ranked Carroll College (12-1) beat seventh-ranked Missouri Valley 27-3 on Saturday and advances to the semifinals against top-ranked and unbeaten Cumberlands (12-0) in Williamsburg, Ky. The other semifinal features No. 5 Morningside (11-1) against No. 2 Grand View (12-0).
