A former Oregon high school teacher accused of punching a 17-year-old boy in a road rage incident has pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and related charges.
Bruce Clevenger of Aloha was sentenced Thursday to probation and 100 hours of community service.
The Oregonian reports that a prosecutor says the 62-year-old man began tailgating the teen last April 4 in a 25 mph zone, pulled alongside the boy and swerved into him. The prosecutor says Clevenger yanked the teen's door open, pulled him out of the car and began punching him in the face.
Several people witnessed the attack.
Defense lawyer Krista Shipsey says Clevenger is deeply embarrassed and remembers few details. She says he's been seeing a psychiatrist. Shipsey says her client resigned from his job at Liberty High School.
The victim did not attend the Circuit Court hearing.
