Seattle police say someone set fire to the carpeted stairway of a Capitol Hill bar during a crowded New Year's Eve celebration.
Detective Renee Witt says more than 750 people were in the bar when someone poured gasoline on the stairs leading to the second floor and lit it on fire. It happened shortly after midnight Tuesday.
She says the fire was quickly discovered and extinguished.
The bar was evacuated. No one was injured.
Detectives are investigating.
