A lightning-caused fire east of Lolo quickly burned 200 acres and led the Missoula County sheriff's office to recommend precautionary evacuations for 50 to 60 homes in the Upper Miller Creek area.
The Miller Creek Fire was reported at about 9 p.m. Sunday and winds of 30 to 40 mph quickly pushed the fire, which was burning in grass and timber in steep terrain.
Department of Natural Resources and Conservation spokeswoman Cindy Super says she expects there will be more fire starts reported from the storm, which brought considerable lightning, but no rain.
The fire is being managed by the Missoula Rural Fire Department and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
No injuries have been reported.
