The Butte-Silver Bow County sheriff says a team of dogs has found the remains of a Bozeman man who was reported missing.
Sheriff Ed Lester says the body of 45-year-old John Flanigan was found Tuesday a half-mile from the Herman Gulch Trailhead south of Butte.
The Montana Standard reports authorities have not released a cause of death but documents found with the body confirm Flanigan's identity.
Authorities say they believe the man had been dead between 10 and 12 days before the body was found.
Family members say the journeyman carpenter and concrete finisher was last seen Aug. 13 in Bozeman.
His vehicle was found Aug. 20.
The remains have been transported to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for an autopsy.
