A grass fire that was sparked by lightning and grew to threaten homes in a corner of Ada County is now fully contained.
Crews from multiple agencies battled the blaze that started near Firebird Raceway late Tuesday and caused up to 100 people to evacuate homes and buildings within a one-mile radius. No homes were damaged by the fire, which was brought under control early Wednesday morning.
It wasn't the only blaze caused by a series of thunderstorms that swept across southern and central Idaho late Tuesday.
Officials with the Payette National Forest say crews were deployed to make initial attacks on at least eight wildfires burning on the forest's western side.
Crews are also still working to contain the Pine Creek Fire, burning in the forest northeast of Boise.
