ENTIAT, Wash. -

Firefighters in central Washington are getting ready to do some controlled burns to push back the southern end of a fire near Entiat.

The fire burning across 35 square miles is about 34 percent contained. But fire spokesman Daniel O'Connor says they're having some problems with flaming debris rolling down the hill and past the southern fire line.

O'Connor says residents of Wenatchee may see a lot more smoke on Tuesday, but that doesn't mean the fire is growing.

Firefighters are getting a better handle on the Mills Canyon fire. O'Connor says Monday's efforts were productive.
