SPOKANE, Wash. -

Walk into the Davenport Hotel and you'll make no mistake; it's Christmas time.

Tuesday marked the beginning of the 34th annual Christmas Tree Elegance, where 18 decadent trees are available to the public in a simple raffle.

"Twelve trees here at the Davenport and six over at River Park Square," described Carol Borodin, who's entering her eighth year with the fundraiser.

"Each tree is worth a little under $5,000, and each individual ticket costs just one dollar," she said.

Each tree has a theme. The Seattle Seahawks assortment comes with the tree, a Russell Wilson painting, a 55" curved Samsung TV and no shortage of 12 gear.

The total value of the material Seahawks items is approximately $3,500, so the winner of that particular tree would receive $1,500 cash, rounding out the $5,000 value.

If it's money you're after this holiday season, you might want to drop your ticket in the "cash tree" bin; a simple revolving Douglas fir - with $4,500 cash.

With this kind of return for one dollar tickets, it's no wonder the tradition is a success.

"Last year we sold $313,000 one dollar tickets," Borodin said. "Fabulous! Spokane turns out for Christmas Tree Elegance," she said.
