Police say firefighters found a bomb inside a non-denominational chapel that burned in downtown Coos Bay.
Coos Bay Police Capt. Chris Chapanar says the improvised explosive device was disarmed Tuesday evening by state police and FBI bomb technicians after the fire was put out.
Chapanar says investigators don't know whether the bomb was related to a small explosive device that blew up a few weeks ago after being placed on a war memorial in a city park.
The World newspaper reports that the Prayer Chapel's board of directors had offered the site as a home for the war memorial -- which is in the shape of a cross -- after the Freedom From Religion Foundation demanded the city remove it from city property.
