Authorities in Boise say they are investigating the theft of 27 American flags snatched from light poles lining one of the city's historic neighborhood boulevards.
The flags were posted earlier this week and believed to have been taken sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday on the July 4th holiday. The flags are three-feet by five-feet, valued at $50 apiece and were mounted on brackets on light poles 12-feet high.
The flags were posted along a stretch of Harrison Boulevard, a street on the city's historic north end lined with tall trees and older, stately homes.
Lt. Dave Burch says those involved in taking the flags underestimated the meaning and value the flags have to the neighborhood.
