A Helena man has died of injuries suffered after his bicycle was struck by a suspected drunken driver.
Lewis and Clark County officials say the man was hit at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday about a block north of the city limits.
Coroner Mickey Nelson says 29-year-old Benjamin John Homan died of a brain injury shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Sheriff Leo Dutton says the suspected driver initially left the scene but returned. Joel Powers, 49, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide while under the influence, aggravated DUI and failure to remain at the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
It was raining at the time of the collision. Nelson says Homan's bicycle had a headlight and reflectors and he was wearing a helmet.
